A long country shaped by water, memory and movement

Vietnam is not one single atmosphere, cuisine or story.

The country stretches over more than 1,600 kilometres, so every region has its own climate, food, architecture and pace.

Hanoi brings lakes, temples, colonial streets and a strong sense of continuity. Ninh Bình and Ha Long Bay open onto limestone landscapes, while the northern mountains preserve ethnic cultures and spectacular rice terraces.

Central Vietnam gathers imperial Huế, the lanterns and merchant houses of Hội An, beaches, craft villages and some of the country’s most refined food traditions.

In the south, Ho Chi Minh City moves quickly, while the Mekong Delta slows life down again through canals, orchards, floating markets and family-run businesses. My Lady Trip connects these contrasts with women’s stories and meaningful local experiences.

The best Vietnam itinerary is not the one that tries to cross the whole country too quickly. It is the one that respects distances, weather, regional identities and the pleasure of slowing down.

The My Lady Trip approach
Before choosing your trip

Essential information for understanding the rhythm of Vietnam.

A thoughtful itinerary balances long distances, regional weather, city energy, natural landscapes, food experiences and enough time to enjoy each place without rushing.

01

Transport and distances

Domestic flights, trains and private road journeys are often combined. The country is long, and travelling from north to south entirely overland requires substantial time.

02

Climate and regional seasons

Northern, central and southern Vietnam do not share the same weather. A good programme must consider each region separately rather than relying on one national season.

03

Food and shared tables

Vietnamese cuisine changes from one region to another. Fresh herbs, noodles, rice, seafood, grilled dishes and family-style sharing are central to the experience.

04

Language and communication

Vietnamese is the national language. English is common in tourism areas, but local guides and translation tools are especially useful in markets, villages and family encounters.

05

Money and payments

The Vietnamese đồng is the local currency. Cards are increasingly accepted, but cash remains useful for markets, smaller restaurants and rural areas.

06

Entry formalities

Visa exemptions and e-visa rules depend on nationality and may change. Every traveller must verify the official requirements applying to her passport before departure.

What to experience

Five sides of Vietnam that create a richer journey.

The strongest programmes combine historic cities, limestone landscapes, imperial heritage, river life, food, crafts and encounters with women who preserve and reinvent local traditions.

Ho Chi Minh City mixes architecture, cafés, design, nightlife and powerful historical sites. It is also the natural gateway to southern Vietnam.

The Mekong Delta

Canals, orchards, family businesses and life shaped by the river

The delta is best experienced slowly, through boats, village roads, local kitchens, fruit gardens and conversations with families whose lives remain connected to the water.

Food, textiles, farming, music, wellness and women-led businesses

Encounters with cooks, artisans, farmers, guides and entrepreneurs reveal how women sustain traditions while building contemporary livelihoods.

Women-ledCuisineCraftsCommunity

Vietnamese women are not a decorative theme in our journeys. Their work and stories help travellers understand how family, trade, food, craft, resilience and community shape daily life.

Women in Vietnam
Women and Vietnam

Women’s knowledge appears in kitchens, markets, workshops, farms, family businesses and cultural traditions.

Women in Vietnam cannot be reduced to one story. A designer in Hanoi, a market trader in Ho Chi Minh City, a ceramic artist, a beauty entrepreneur, a cook and a farmer in the Mekong Delta may have very different relationships with work, family, tradition and independence.

Our journeys create respectful opportunities to understand how women contribute to the country’s culture and economy: preserving skills, building businesses, leading creative projects and reinterpreting traditions for new generations.

Across Vietnam, women play an essential role in transmitting culinary, agricultural and craft knowledge. Their understanding of place, family organisation and community life remains central to many local economies and traditions.

Women guides & storytellers

History, society and everyday life explained through local perspectives.

Designers & entrepreneurs

Fashion, beauty, cafés, food, technology and contemporary creative businesses.

Artisans & cultural practitioners

Ceramics, tea, cooking, textiles and skills transmitted with care.

Farmers & market traders

Women whose knowledge of farming, trade and local communities is inseparable from regional identity.

Travel with confidence

Vietnam is rewarding when the itinerary respects local conditions and practical realities.

Good preparation helps travellers move confidently between fast-paced cities, heritage sites, markets, coastal regions and quieter rural areas.

Safety and current conditions

Vietnam generally allows travellers to take normal precautions, but petty theft can occur in busy tourist areas. Current official advice, insurance and local instructions should always be checked.

Clothing and shoes

Light, breathable clothing and comfortable walking shoes are essential. Shoulders and knees should be covered at temples and sacred sites.

Transport and road awareness

Traffic can feel intense, especially in major cities. Cross roads calmly, follow local guidance and use reputable transport providers.

Food and dietary needs

Street food is part of the experience, but allergies and dietary requirements should be explained clearly in advance. Bottled or properly treated water is recommended.

Connectivity and payments

Mobile data is widely available. Cards are common in hotels and larger businesses, while cash remains important for markets and smaller vendors.

Health and insurance

Travel insurance and personal medical preparation remain essential. Advice should be adapted to the traveller’s health, destination regions and planned activities.

When to travel

Vietnam does not have one single best season.

Conditions vary between north, centre and south. The ideal departure depends on the itinerary, and weather patterns can change from one year to another.

Central dry season

February to August

Often favourable for Huế, Hội An and the central coast, with hotter conditions later in the season.

Rain and storm patterns must still be monitored.
Southern dry season

December to April

Usually the more comfortable period for Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta, with warm temperatures throughout.

Heat remains part of the southern climate.
Regional rainy periods

May to November

Rain does not affect every region in the same way or at the same time. Central Vietnam may face storms and flooding later in the year.

Flexible planning is important for multi-region journeys.

Frequently asked questions

What women ask before travelling to Vietnam.

Is Vietnam suitable for a first trip to Southeast Asia?
Yes. Tourism infrastructure is well developed in major destinations, while a structured itinerary helps travellers manage traffic, distances, regional weather and cultural etiquette.
Do I need to speak Vietnamese?
No. English is common in tourism areas, and local guides help with markets, villages, family experiences and regional travel.
Can I visit the whole country in one week?
Not comfortably. Vietnam is long and diverse. A short trip should focus on one or two regions rather than trying to cross the entire country too quickly.
Are international flights included?
No. Travellers choose and book their international flights, then meet the group or local team at the destination and time stated in the trip information.
Can a Vietnam itinerary be made private?
Yes. A private journey can be designed according to your dates, group composition, duration, interests and preferred regions.
Is the weather the same everywhere?
No. North, centre and south have different seasonal patterns. The itinerary must be assessed region by region.
